Texans Axl Goode and Taylor Cole flew on Frontier Airlines Flight 1143 on Monday night in the wake of coming back from a convention outside Cleveland for their publishing company, Ellora’s Cave. In addition to stripping, the two work as romance novel cover models. The Daily Mail reports they were situated simply a feet away from Amber Vinson, the attendant who contracted Ebola in the wake of treating Thomas Eric Duncan, the man who died from the infection.

The pair of Texas male strippers were among 132 passengers on Frontier Airline’s Flight 1142 from Cleveland to Dallas. “If she was contagious on that flight, I was there with her in that space for three hours. I would rather keep my friends, family and other people safe by sacrificing the next three weeks and staying indoors in my apartment,” Axl said. Health officials have instructed Axel to take his temperature twice a day: once when he wakes up, and again six hours later.

“It’s certainly horribly frightening,” said Goode. “If you read about what happens to somebody with Ebola and how their body breaks down, it’s a nightmare. It’s a terrifying nightmare come to life.”

Dallas public health officials say the CDC never told the healthcare workers who treated the first Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan not to fly. Nurse Amber Vinson was admitted to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas had a low-grade fever and diagnosed with the Ebola virus. However, haven been exposure to Vision, an epidemiologist told Goode and Cole not to fly or get on board a cruise ship. The two have cancelled their plans for the next three weeks and have put themselves in a 21-day isolate.

Supporters for the Texas male exotic dancers have set up a GoFundMe campaign that has already raised $3,500 to Axl Goode and Taylor Cole while they are unable to work. In addition to the GoFundMe campaign, friends, family and a growing number of strangers have volunteered to ship him food and supplies for the duration of his self-imposed exile. Axel says “I’m fortunate that I have such a good social network that is willing to help take care of me at this time,” he said. “It’s a small sacrifice.”
